Asian PhotographsI spent November and December of 1996 photographing people in Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong, China, and Macau. I loved eating and talking to people at the hacker's stands in Singapore, was enchanted by the people in Thailand, especially in an amazing people's park, and was overwhelmed in both Hong Kong and China. What follows are sets of photographs from each of these countries. I photographed people in public places--on the streets, at temples and mosques, on playgrounds, trains, and public squares. I was taken with both the old and the young and with the stories told in the faces of the people I met. Enjoy the pictures. |
