SOUTH AFRICA

I have been going to South Africa since 1999.  It began with a Fulbright at the University of the Western Cape and I fell in love with Cape Town -- the people and the place.  Through my work on an oral history with teachers who fought apartheid, as well as the friendship of colleagues and others, I truly consider Cape Town one of my homes.  I have taken pictures in various parts of the country and they tell a story of beautiful children sometimes living a tough life, but with smiles that portray the hope and possibilities in spite of great disparity and huge tasks.
